  • "Contains two drafts of a bill of equity presented to the U.S. Supreme Court, 11 August, 1792, asking the court to inquire into the claim and require Virginia to make full compensation for the company's losses and their expenses in pursuing the claim. The bill sets forth the history of the company's claim and the charters, deeds, and treaties on which it is based; and includes transcripts of the company's memorials to the Virginia legislature and the legislature's resolutions and notices to the company. The collection contains also copies of the company's memorials to the Continental Congress, 11 September 1779 and 30 November 1780; a list of shareholders; a list of documents required for preparing the bill of equity; a broadside account of the debates on the company's memorial in the Virginia House of Delegates, 1 November 1791; a blank company deed and survey warrant; extracts from Indian treaties; and three letters concerning the claim and other company business.
