In the fall of 1944, "Hitler's Commando," Colonel Otto Skorzeny, has received orders for Operation Greif, whose primary objective is to send 2000 English speaking men behind the Allied lines disguised as GIs, to wreak havoc in advance of a new offensive, to divert attention from the secondary objective, in which 20 commandos, fluent in American culture, are to assassinate Eisenhower.
