  • "Collection consists chiefly of instantaneous recordings of a May 8, 1947, Save the Voice of Freedom Committee rally at Town Hall in New York City protesting the removal of liberal news commentator William L. Shirer and others from various radio networks. Includes speeches by Shirer, William S. Gailmor, Frank Kingdon, Dorothy Parker (founder of the committee), and Henry Wallace, as well as a "transcription" address by Orson Welles and performances by Zero Mostel, Stella Adler, Will Geer, Norman Atkins, and others. A separate but similar Save the Voice of Freedom rally may also have been recorded.
