Changes to the Canada pension plan retirement pension
The Canada Pension Plan (CPP) provides a retirement pension, disability and survivor benefits (death benefit, survivor's pension and children's benefit). The program is funded through contributions by employees, employers and self-employed workers. In May 2009, as part of the triennial review of the CPP, the federal, provincial and territorial ministers of Finance recommended various changes to the CPP retirement pension.
