William Barratt (b. 1809) was born and raised in England. In 1830 he married Mary Ann Moore (1809-1889) and in 1842 they immigrated to New Zealand with their six children. They settled first in Wellington where their seventh and last child was born. The children settled in various parts of their new home land and descendants presently live throughout New Zealand.
