Containing the names of 75,000 persons, the marriages are derived from various sources, mostly from City of Boston Registry Department. More were derived from published marriage intentions, and have been compared with the official marriage records, with spelling differences and other discrepancies noted. Intentions without subsequent record of marriage are printed separately. Church and court records also consulted. Originally published in 1898, and first reprinted in 1977.
