Group psychotherapy for mothers

Open All Close All

http://schema.org/description

  • ""One of the major problems encountered in psychotherapy with children is the large incidence of interference by the mothers, in the treatment process. A second problem is the detrimental effect on the results of treatment which occurs when the still pliable child returns to the same emotional milieu which originally produced the undesirable behavior. Group psychotherapy with the mothers of these disturbed children solves both these problems. It also indicates the possibility of psychotherapy with groups of fathers and points forward to the major role which group psychotherapy with parents could play in preventive psychiatry. It is with these goals in mind that the writer presents a method of psychotherapy which has proved effective with mothers' groups on a once-a-week basis"--Preface.
