What we heard

The Royal Commission has the mandate to conduct a critical assessment of Newfoundland & Labrador's strengths & weaknesses and to bring forward recommendations on how best to achieve prosperity & self-reliance. This document is a summary of the input received by Commission in its public consultations across the province. Issues discussed include the place of the province within Canada, women's & youth perspectives, Aboriginal concerns, local entrepreneurship & innovation, federal-provincial relations, the state of the fishery, offshore royalties, the Churchill Falls hydroelectric development, rural development, emigration, relationships between Labrador & the rest of the province, and Newfoundlanders' sense of place.
