The public in law : representations of the political in legal discourse

This collection brings together a group of scholars to discuss the operation of "the public" in a range of different legal spaces. The work provides a synoptic overview of the instantiations of "the public" which appear in a number of legal spheres and attempts to ascertain whether the notion can have coherent or congruent meanings across these heterogeneous domains. A key question which frames the contributions is whether "the public" operates as a bona fide interface between law and society.
