Special study targets are the formation of aggregates in turbulent water, flocks and biofilms from organic reactions, and the formation of new surfaces for re-adsorption of dissolved pollutants. The degradation of organic matter is of the greatest importance as it affects both hydrodynamic processes and geochemical redox cycles providing driving forces , e.g. for metal mobilization. These papers result from an International Symposium on Sediment Dynamics and Pollutant Mobility in River Basins, held in Hamburg, March 26 to 29, 2006."
