Perspectives on the enlargement of the European Union

Ross (Russian and East European politics, U. of Dundee, UK) presents eleven contributions from academics in Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, Italy, Britain, and Australia, in which the scholars look at region- wide case studies of the European Union enlargement process and present case studies of eight of the applicant countries. The case studies critically examine the countries' progress in meeting EU accession requirements and explore historical, sociological, and political factors in the enlargement process. All of the articles were drawn from two issues of the journal Perspectives on European Politics and Society (v.1, no.1, December 2000 and v.2, no.1, May 2001). Annotation copyrighted by Book News, Inc., Portland, OR.
