Orlando

The story of someone who lives for four hundred years, first as a man, then as a woman. Orlando's journey begins in 1600 as a priviledged youth, bequeathed a stately home by Queen Elizabeth I who instructs Orlando not to "fade, wither or grow old". Orlando's life, from that moment, becomes a rich tapestry, imaginatively preserved by Elizabeth's decree. It is a life enriched and saddened by lost love, confused and challenged by diplomatic responsibility, tempted by society's foibles and Orlando's own passion for poetry and passion. When Orlano emerges into the present - a twentieth century of speed and noise - it is an ordinary individual who, in losing everything, has found herself.
