""Es costumbre gitana comprometer a sus hijos en matrimonio desde minos, sin poder decidir por si mismos. Esta "ley" recae sobre Candela y Jose. Carmelo, otro gitanillo, eterno enamorado de Candela, presencia enmudecido esta inesperada escena. Se cumple el tiempo y se celebra la boda. En la propia fiesta, Jose reitera a Lucia la pasion que iente por ella. En la ipica Navidad del poblado gitano, Jose busca a Lucia, alejandose de Candela. Suge una pelea donde Jose muere apunalado y Carmelo es cnducido injustamente a prision. Candela, que no se resigna a su suerte adversa, acude cada noche al descampado donde fue asesinado Jose, buscando alucinamente el espectro de su marido. Cuando Carmelo sale de la carcel, no da credito a las escenas de brujeria que le cuentan de Candela. Le declara su amor al que Candelo no puede corresponder por que el espectro se interpone entre ellos. Recurren a los conjuros de la hechicera del problado, y a la luz de la luna se celebra la "Danza ritual del fuego" que ahuyenta a los espiritus. En la oscuridad, el Espectro aparece y los cuatro personajes danzan para decidir su destino" -- Container."

"EL AMOR BRUJO is a 1986 Spanish musical film written and directed by Carlos Saura. It is the third part of Saura's flamenco trilogy he made in the 80's, after BLOOD WEDDING in 1981 and CARMEN in 1983. Candela and Josú's families arranged their marriage while they were still children. But Josú loves Lucia and Candela has fallen in love with Carmelo. Josú is stabbed to death in a duel and Carmelo is sent to prison. When he is released, Carmelo returns to Candela but Josú's ghost haunts the young woman and creates a barrier to their love. Rovira Beleta introdujo notables modificaciones en el argumento, sobre todo en lo referente al espectro del fallecido que persigue a la que fue su novia, impidiendo que pueda materializar otra relación afectiva. Sin embargo rodó los exteriores en Cádiz, patria chica de Falla y donde supuestamente transcurre originalmente la acción del ballet. El film se estrenó en septiembre de 1967 y obtuvo, además de la Nominación al Oscar un Premio en el Festival de Nueva York para La Polaca y el Premio Ciudad de Barcelona."@es
