The Mystic Navajo

  • "No one group of people better personifies the American Southwest than the Navajo Indians, a mystical and spiritual nation of shepherds, weavers and silversmiths. Once known as the lords of New Mexico, the Navajo sustained centuries of battle against the Spanish and other Indian tribes. Then came a dark period in their history. In 1863 the Navajo became part of a grand experiment by the United States government to rid the West of its native people. Rounded up like cattle, they were forced on a deadly journey called the Long Walk. This is their story."
