Musical comedy starring Queen Latifah and Dolly Parton. In an impoverished Georgia town, the death of gospel choir director Bernard Sparrow (Kris Kristofferson) sparks changes in the lives of two of the choir's members. Vi Rose Hill (Queen Latifah), Sparrow's second-in-command, is named as his replacement - but Bernard's widow, G.G.
