A decorated New York police detective and a beloved local shopowner are murdered in cold blood. Detective Tony Scanlon, searching for clues in the slain officer's locker, discovers some unsavory facts about his private life-- clues that will lead Scanlon through the highest and lowest levels of the universe that cops and criminals cohabit. Scanlon must now put himself to the test, as a man and as a cop, as he uncovers the lives, sins, and secrets of his suspects, both inside and outside the department.
