Part six covers the work of late 20th century philosophers and theorists, including Thomas Kuhn's revised understanding of science, Habermas and Barthes communication-based theories, Foucalt's analysis of power in institutions, Gouldner's class-based critique of Marxism and Willard van Orman Quine's post-philosophy analysis. Living American philosophers Rorty and Rawls are discussed, as is the post-modernism of French philosopher Lyotard. The series concludes with a summary of our progress in philosophy and some glimpses towards the horizon of this work.
