Beyond the Blonde

"The Devil wears Prada" meets "Steel magnolias" in this fictionalized account of the real rise of hair stylist Kathleen Flynn-Hui. Raised in rural New Hampshire, Georgia Watkins has spent her life in a beauty salon. When she jets off to New York City, in search of glamour and prestige, nothing can prepare her for what she finds. Before too long, she's highlighting dogs to match their owners, making house calls to the Hamptons and coming into her own minor celebrity by virtue of her wealthy clientele. Working for the eponymous Jean-Luc, she is unraveled when the master stylist betrays her. Cast aside, she must make her own way in order to save her career. Ultimately, Georgia must come to terms with how truly ugly the world of beauty can be.
