The seventh day

The world as we knew it has been gone for two hundred years. The descendants of those few who survived the Great Ending are now ruled by an all-powerful group known as the Chosen, whose walled city imprisons their diminishing population and is rife with plague. Desperate to repopulate, the Chosen send searchers to capture every surviving female still living in the wild lands beyond the city, for their new breeding stations. But they have not yet taken them all. There is a girl with a name neither of her companions can remember. Since the Chosen's searchers found her living on a remote property she has experienced little more than the oppressive regime they enforce, and she knows that one day they will come for her. Then one blustery afternoon a son of one of the Chosen stumbles onto the girl's farm, a boy who has fled from a life he can no longer bear. His arrival sets in motion a chain of events which offer her a chance to gain the unthinkable-- freedom.--Cover.
