Functioning in the real world a precalculus experience

[The authors of this text] presume that the students taking this course have had a reasonably good mathematical background at the level of intermediate algebra and a previous exposure to some right-angle trigonometry and logarithms (but likely remember very little of it). As an alternative to traditional precancels and college algebra-trig courses, the "Functioning" course certainly provides a strong preparation for a standard calculus course. However, the primary emphases [they] have adopted make the approach particularly well-suited as preparation for virtually any calculus course.-Pref.
