Garbo laughs

Harriet Browning forms a Friday night movie club with three friends, to see all the films she was deprived of as a child. Breaking in on this cinematic world, along with the 1998 ice storm, come two Hollywood refugees: Aunt Leah, the wife of a screenwriter blacklisted in the '50's, and her sardonic would-be-writer stepson Jack. They bring harsh reality and illuminate the pull of family and friendship, the sting of infidelity and revenge, and the shock of illness and sudden loss.

  • "The quixotic tale of Harriet Browning who forms a movie club with three companions-of-the screen: a boy who loves Frank Sinatra, a girl with Bette Davis eyes, and an earthy sidekick named Dinah for Dinah Shore. How to make the transitions in life and love is a recurring dilemma about how movies interact with our lives - for better or worse."
