  • "Lately, there have been more fatal accidents than usual in Mid-Yorkshire, U.K. One man drowned and another crashed his motorcycle into a tree. No one particularly takes notice of these events, however, until an alert librarian, who is in charge of a local short story competition, discovers stories detailing the deaths of these men--written and submitted before the accidents occurred. A dangerous maniac author is on the loose, and it's up to inspectors Peter Pascoe, "Fat Andy" Dalziel, and Etherlbert "Hat" Bowler to puzzle out the clues amidst a growing body count."
