Im Rahmen zweier Experimente werden das Verstehen und die Verständlichkeit gesprochener und geschriebener Politikersprache analysiert, unter anderem in Reden und Interviews sowie auf Webseiten der Bundesregierung. Auf dieser Grundlage entwickelt der Autor einen Komplexitätsindex für Politikersprache. Dieser ermöglicht es, deutlich spezifischere Aussagen über die Textschwierigkeit politischer Botschaften zu treffen als bisherige Messinstrumente."
