Music of Kurdistan

Though considered the leading Kurdish musician in this country, it was not until the age of twenty that Dursan first owned an instrument. Born in Turkey under conditions of abject poverty, he began to teach himself instruments loaned to him by friends from a young age. Dursan's music is steeped in both a private and communal frustration and pain, and the result is a highly emotive, powerful album that is a soundtrack for not just a band, but a whole race of people.
