S-methoprene

S-methoprene is an insect growth regulator used to reduce the emergence of adult sciarid flies in mushroom cultures, to control fleas and ticks on dogs, cats and indoor premises, and to prevent the emergence of adult mosquitoes from standing water including flood water sites, permanent water sites, storm drain ditches and roadside ditches. S-methoprene has been re-evaluated under Re-evaluation Program 1, which relies as much as possible on foreign reviews, typically, United States Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA) Reregistration Eligibility Decision (RED) documents. This re-evaluation decision document describes this stage of Health Canada Pest Management Regulatory Agency's (PMRA's) regulatory process for the re-evaluation of diuron and summarizes the Agency's decision, the reasons for it and, in Appendix I, provides a summary of comments received during the consultation process and the PMRA's response to these comments.--Document.
