The beautiful life of Francis E. Willard a memorial volume
Frances Elizabeth Willard was born in 1839 at Churchville, New York, the daughter of Josiah Flint and Mary Thompson Hill Willard. The family migrated to Oberlin, Ohio, ca. 1841, and to a farm near Janesville, Wisconsin, in 1846. She taught school in Cook County, Illinois, and at Northwestern Female College, where she became dean. She was an organizer and leader of the Woman's Christian Temperance Union and founder of the World's Woman's Christian Temperance Union. She died in 1898.
