Neben zahllosen Sachbüchern zählen zu seinen grössten Werken die Romane 'Die letzte Generation' und '2001 - Odyssee im Weltraum', nach dem Stanley Kubrick seinen legendären Film drehte. Clarke starb im März 2008 in seiner Wahlheimat Sri Lanka."
