  • "James Lipton hosts an evening of discussion with film actor and director Edward Norton. Norton speaks of his family and upbringing in Columbia, Maryland; taking acting classes and performing in plays as a child; attending Yale University, where he majored in history and studied Japanese; studying acting in New York City with Gloria Maddox and Terry Schreiber; and beginning his acting career Off-Broadway in plays such as Waiting for Lefty, Italian American reconciliation, Lovers, and in productions at the Signature Theatre, working with its founder and director James Haughton. Norton discusses his roles in such films as Primal fear (1996), Everyone says I love you (1996) directed by Woody Allen, The people vs. Larry Flynt (1996), Rounders (1998), American history X (1998), Fight club (1999), Keeping the faith (2000), The score (2000), for which he contributed to the screenplay, Red dragon (2002), Frida (2002) directed by Julie Taymor, to which he contributed dialogue, and The 25th hour (2002), directed by Spike Lee. He also speaks about his current work on the stage in the Off-Broadway revival of Lanford Wilson's play Burn this. A brief question and answer session with Norton and the Actors Studio master's degree students concludes the program."
