[The Vitaphone reel] [synchronised sound in the cinema, 1926-1928]
This is a compilation of extracts from films contemporary to the introduction of synchronised sound, Warner Bros' Vitaphone system, in 1927. A trailer (1927) announces the arrival of the sound system in The Jazz Singer. This synchronised-disc system is demonstrated in a film studio (1926). Finally, there is a condensed version of Warner Bros' first all-talking feature, The Lights of New York (1928).
