- "Midshipman Ralph Kirby has a special problem that causes him many a trying hour while at the Academy. His father, head of Kirby Tractors, is a self-made, domineering tycoon who has assumed a well-meaning but spirit-breaking control of Ralph's actions. Ralph, in rebelling and seeking independence in his career, joins the water polo team although he is not too powerful physically. This brings a conflict that he has had with another midshipman into the open. But, with the advice from his Company Officer and fellow midshipmen, Ralph solves his difficulties and grows up during the story so that he is able to face up to his father and win new respect from both his classmates and his father."
