Long line azimuth determination from range and optical measurements

A solution is developed in vector form for determining the azimuth of long lines from timed simultaneous observations of range and direction to a target at altitude from the terminal points of the line. The solution is independent of the distance between the two points and timing requirements are not at all severe. The twenty millesecond accuracy required for ballistic camera orientation is entirely adequate. A sample computation is included along with an error analysis, a FORTRAN program listing and flow charts. (Author).
