Relatively high molecular weight (n(inh) about 0.6 dl/g) soluble polytriazolines have been prepared by the solution polymerization of 2,6-pyridinediyl dihydrazidine with three different aromatic dialdehydes. Thermogravimetric analysis of the polytriazolines showed weight losses in air and in nitrogen commencing at 280C and 400C, respectively. Several attempts to convert triazoline model compounds to the corresponding 1,2,4-triazoles and to quantitatively prepare methyl substituted triazoline model compounds were unsuccessful. (Author).
