Extensible Language Research

The report summarizes work performed at Harvard on the design and implementation of programming languages and programming language techniques for handling multiple data types. A prototype language called the Polymorphic Programming Language has been implemented at Harvard and features data definition facilities and operator extensions. The report summarizes the experience gained using this language, particularly with regard to the verification of the usefulness of data definition techniques in programming.
