In the second story, whose is the face at the upstairs window, "livid, deadly, yellow, and with something set and rigid about it, which was shockingly unnatural?" In the third story, young Hall Pycroft finds his suspicions are quickly aroused in his new job by a shoddy office and the odd behavior of his office. Call for Holmes ... In the fourth story, the young Holmes, just down from university, solves his very first case: the mystery of a Justice of the Peace and an old sailor, Hudson--seemingly the devil himself."@en
