The name was Olney

Thomas Olney (ca. 1600-1682), his wife, Marie Small, and two young sons, emigrated from Herfordshire in 1635 and settled near Salem Massachusetts. They migrated to Rhode Island in 1638. William Olney, a descendant, with his wife, Charlotte Tanner, and their family, migrated from Pennsylvania, to Ohio, and then Iowa. Their son, Nathan Olney (1824-1866), migrated to Oregon in 1843. He was the first Indian sub-agent of Oregon territory, a captain in the military, a sheriff, justice, etc. He married a Wasco Indian princess , Twawy or Annette, daughter of chief Chakakee in 1852. They had five children, 1853-1863. Nathan Olney was killed in an accident and was buried at Fort Simcoe. Annette Olney married 2) John Hadley and had two more children. Record gives some information about the Oleny children, Nathan Olney's brothers and sisters, and a few other members of the Olney family.
