Communist Workers Party position on Feb. 2 march

Press release explaining the Party's position on a controversy related to a protest march set for Feb. 2, 1980, in Greensboro, N.C. The march had been planned by a coalition of various groups as a reaction to the attempted assassination of members of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference (in Decatur, Ala.) and the murder of five Communist Workers Party members (in Greensboro), both committed by the Ku Klux Klan. The coalition planning the march had proposed to expel the Party from the march if it did not state publicly that its marchers would not be armed for self-defense. The Party rejected this decision and planned to participate in the march without making any statement on the issue of arms.
