The LC-OCLC CIP project
CIP records are among the most widely used and valued bibliographic records in libraries. The operational complexities of creating cataloging records in advance of publication and upgrading them after publication have never been scrutinized in a systematic way. The objectives of the CIP project were to: (1) understand CIP processes and workflows, (2) measure throughput timings, and (3) analyze changes made to the CIP galley records.
