"Cassette contains a recording of the proceedings of the semi-annual lunch board meeting for New York Shakespeare Festival. After a lengthy financial report, it was announced that both Pirates of Penzance and A chorus line national tours were closing. Joseph Papp read a fan letter for Bortho Strauss's "Three acts of recognition", and shared about upcoming plays, including "Goose and Tomtom", "The golem", and "Macbeth" (on ABC Cable, [directed by Kirk Browning]). Other productions were also discussed, as well as the Riverside Shakespeare Company's touring production of "A comedy of errors". One of the plays in particular, "Goose and Tomtom", set off a heated discussion by Papp and one of the board members due to a critic's [Richard Foreman] comment about Papp himself and his choice of plays. The audio end of this discussion was cut abruptly."
