"Die Politikwissenschaft öffnet sich zunehmend geschichtspolitischen Fragehorizonten. Manuel Becker untersucht die Möglichkeit einer theoretischen Grundlegung der Geschichte als Element des politischen Handelns. Im empirischen Teil werden die gewonnenen theoretischen Erkenntnisse auf drei Fallbeispiele angewendet: In der Debatte um den Beitritt der Türkei zur EU werden die historischen Argumentationsmuster analysiert und einer intensiven Konsistenzprüfung unterzogen. Weiterhin werden die Geschichte der Behörde des Bundesbeauftragten für die Stasi-Unterlagen in ihrer vergangenheitspolitischen Genese und Entwicklung und das erinnerungspolitische Projekt eines Zentrums gegen Vertreibungen analysiert. Abschließend werden die Ergebnisse zu zehn Thesen zur Geschichtspolitik in der "Berliner Republik" zusammengefasst.
