Moving on

Summary: Though family violence has long been a major problem in Canada, society as a whole has found it difficult to face this reality. London, Ontario, is unique in that the city has acknowledged wife battering as a community problem and decided to do something about it. As a result, the Coordinating Committee on Family Violence was established, comprising representatives from such organisations as the police, social service agencies, transition houses, the legal profession, etc. By pooling their expertise and combining the services available to victims and their children, the city was embarked on an attempt to break the cycle of violence. This film presents an introduction to this innovative approach and includes interviews with a number of the people involved.
