The history of love a novel

Leo Gursky is a man who fell in love at the age of ten and has been in love ever since. These days he is just about surviving life in America, tapping his radiator each evening to let his upstairs neighbour know he?s still alive, drawing attention to himself at the milk counter of Starbucks. But life wasn?t always like this: sixty years ago in the Polish village where he was born Leo fell in love with a young girl called Alma and wrote a book in honour of his love. These days he assumes that the book, and his dreams, are irretrievably lost, until one day they return to him in a brown envelope.

  • "Leo Gursky is trying to survive a little bit longer, tapping his radiator each evening to let his upstairs neighbor know he's still alive, drawing attention to himself at the milk counter of Starbucks. But life wasn't always like this: sixty years ago, in the Polish village where he was born, Leo fell in love and wrote a book. And although he doesn't know it, that book also survived: it crossed oceans and generations, and changed lives. Fourteen-year-old Alma was named after a character in that book. She has her hands full keeping track of her little brother Bird (who thinks he might be the Messiah) and taking copious notes in her book, How to Survive in the Wild Volume Three. But when a mysterious letter arrives in the mail she undertakes an adventure to find her namesake and save her family. -Dust jacket."
  • "It has been decades since Leo Leo Gursky first surrendered his heart, then wrote a book about it--at the tender age of 10--and he's been in love with the same person ever since. Leo believes his book is lost to time, but what he doesn't know is, not only has it survived 60 years without him, it has also been an inspiration to others. Fourteen-year-old Alma was even named for a character from the book. When she realizes how deeply the story touched her lonely mother, she embarks upon a search for answers."@en

  • "Leopold Gursky moved to New York after escaping Nazi soldiers during World War II. Today, nearly sixty years later, Leo's heart still hasn't healed: he pains over his only love Alma, and their son Isaac, who he doesn't even know. And as Leopold slowly approaches the end of his days, he contemplates the meaning of his existence, and whether he has made any positive impact in this world."@en
