Imazethapyr

The Pest Management Regulatory Agency's (PMRA) pesticide re-evaluation program considers potential risks as well as the value of pesticide products to ensure they meet modern standards established to protect human health and the environment. Re-evaluation draws on data from registrants, published scientific reports, information from other regulatory agencies and any other relevant information available. This is a consultation document that summarizes the science evaluation for imazethapyr and presents the reasons for the proposed re-evaluation decision. It also proposes additional risk-reduction measures to further protect human health and the environment. The information is presented in two parts. The Overview describes the regulatory process and key points of the evaluation, while the Science Evaluation provides detailed technical information on the human health, environmental and value assessment of imazethapyr. Imazethapyr is a selective systemic herbicide registered for preplant, pre-emergence or postemergence use on terrestrial food and/or feed crops.--Document.

  • "After a re-evaluation of the herbicide imazethapyr, Health Canada's Pest Management Regulatory Agency (PMRA), under the authority of the Pest Control Products Act and Regulations, is granting continued registration of products containing imazethapyr for sale and use in Canada. This Re-evaluation Decision describes this stage of PMRA's regulatory process for the re-evaluation of imazethapyr, summarizes the Agency's decision and the reasons for it.--Document."
  • "Under the authority of the Pest Control Products Act, Health Canada's Pest Management Regulatory Agency (PMRA) has concluded that the addition of new uses on canola quality Brassica Juncea varieties with the Clearfield trait to the product label of Odyssey WDG Herbicide, containing technical grade imazethapyr and imazamox, is acceptable. The established maximum residue limit (MRL) for imazethapyr is presented via this document.--Document."

  • "This document provides information about Canada's maximum residue limits (MRL) for Odyssey WDG Herbicide, containing technical grade imazamox and imazethapyr. Determined by Health Canada's Pest Management Regulatory Agency, the MRL reflects the acceptable quantity of residues that remain in or on food when a pesticide is used according to label directions. This document presents the MRL for the use of imazethapyr on fenugreek grown for seed. This MRL is in addition to the MRLs already established for imazethapyr.--Includes text from document."@en

The MRL reflects the acceptable quantity of residues that remain in or on food when a pesticide is used according to label directions.--Includes text from document."
  • "Before registering a pesticide for food use in Canada, the Pest Management Regulatory Agency (PMRA) must determine the quantity of residues that are likely to remain in or on food when the pesticide is used according to label directions and that such residues will not be a concern to human health. This quantity is then legally established as a maximum residue limit (MRL). An MRL applies to the identified raw agricultural food commodity as well as to any processed food product that contains it, except where separate MRLs are specified for the raw agricultural commodity and a processed product made from it. The proposed MRLs for imazethapyr in Canada in or on food, to be added to the MRLs already legally established, are in this document.--Includes text from document."
