Erosion and related land use conditions on the Minot area, North Dakota

Wind erosion brought about by improper cultural practices and increased by drought, has damaged vast areas in the United States. A survey of 20 representative counties in the Southern Great Plains in 1936 revealed more than 50 percent of the land in those counties had been affected by erosion of a moderate or greater than moderate degree. Results of a similar survey of Bottineau, McHenry, Renville, and Ward counties in northern North Dakota are given in this report, as are also the results of a detailed survey of the Bottineau demonstration project in soil conservation, which includes 47,800 acres in southern Bottineau County.
