Just above my head

At the opening of this work, singer Arthur Montana is dead in London and his brother Hall Montana is filled with grief. In vivid flashbacks, Hall remembers his brother and their often tumultuous relationship within their circle of friends during Harlem's musical heyday. They started out preaching and singing in churches but Arthur soon found fame as a blues and jazz man, and his taboo sexuality further changed the brothers' friendship.
