"The second edition of Computer Use in Psychology: A Directory of Software is a single volume resource that identifies and describes computer software useful for clinical and academic psychologists. With increasing use of computers in both academic instruction (Couch & Stoloff, 1986, 1988; Stoloff & Couch, 1986, 1987) and professional practice, the present Directory can assist the psychologist in identifying those software packages that best fit their needs. The Directory contains program listings for 883 pieces of software and is divided into four sections. The listings in each section are sorted alphabetically by title. The Academic Software section contains 181 listings that are appropriate for use in psychology instruction. Software in this section is classified by the most likely course in which the particular piece of software would be used. The Clinical and Applied Psychology section contains 121 listings designed for use in the practice of clinical and/or applied psychology. The Statistics and Research section contains 216 listings of software that could be used for data analysis and presentation. The final section, Testing Software, contains 365 listings of software that presents psychological evaluation instruments by means of a computer or aids the test administrator in the scoring and/or interpretation of the instrument. Included in this section are software packages that write reports based upon the results of the psychological instruments. Each software listing in the Directory is standardized. Although the software described in the Directory was identified using several different techniques, these techniques do not reflect a scientific sampling.
