Claire has learned are Micaëla ([in Bizet's] Carmen), [Puccini's] Bohème, [Massenet's] Mireille and Manon, [Thomas's] Mignon, [Delibe's] Lakmé, [Gounod's] Faust, Giulietta, Rosina [in Rossini's] Barbiere, [Verdi's] Traviata and [Donizetti's] Lucia, and asking the recipient to publish a notice in his journal to the effect that the Australian soprano Frances Alda, a pupil of his wife's, has been engaged by the Opéra Comique for three years.
