They represent doctoral dissertations in the field of linguistics written at american universities during the period 1900-1964. since the author has attempted to compile as complete a bibliography as possible, some titles which do not seem to be linguistic are included because information available to the author indicated they were at least somewhat linguistic in nature. Each entry gives the author, the date, the title, and the university source of the dissertation. Until publication of this bibliography, the material covered in these scholarly studies has been generally inaccessible to those wishing to know what investigations have been completed and where they are located.
