Pope Paul VI announces the canonization of Mother Seton
- "Elizabeth Ann Seton was first Saint born in America, a friend of George Washington, a former Episcopalian, founder of the Sisters of Charity and "mother" of parochial education in America. Her canonization was celebrated in Rome, at St. Joseph's College in Emmitsburg, MD, and in New York, by the Pope (in English), Msgr. Robert Brown, and Sister Margaret Gleason. Her four miracles were three persons cured of cancer and the founding of a holy order."
