Janovska : the Janovska Camp at Lvov : survivors tell their story

http://schema.org/description

  • "Between 1941 and 1944, 200,000 Jews, comprising one third of the Jewish population of Galicia, were taken to the Nazi labor camp, Janovska, located on the outskirts of Lvov. Only 300 survived. In 1990, a few of the survivors returned to the scene of the mass murders in an effort to reconstruct the horrors of the past. Simon Wiesenthal and Rabbi David Kahane are among the survivors. Stories of personal courage, of survival thanks to miraculous twists of fate, and of heart-rending human suffering abound. Yet no matter how different each tale of survival, all of the eyewitnesses drew the same conclusions. That only through education and learning history's lessons can the world prevent such a tragedy from ever recurring."
