A short account of the Winthrop family

John Winthrop (1587-1649) was the great Puritan leader who immigrated from England to Boston, Massachusetts and became governor of the Massachusetts Bay Colony. He was the son of Adam Winthrop (1548- 1623), grandson of Adam (1498-1562), and great-grandson of Adam Winthrop and Jane Burton. Descendants and relatives listed lived chiefly in Massachusetts and connecticut. Includes some data about ancestry and family history in England, and possibly in Scotland.
